About

by tiannajbateman

My name is Tianna, and I spent my first four years out of college coaching weight loss clients through a near-keto, company-created program (think packaged meals, protein shakes, and a seriously expansive list of off-limits foods). After about two of those years, I wrote the company’s maintenance program.

And in my last year of coaching I used that maintenance program as a building block in a 12-week transformation challenge that not only changed my body, but changed my thinking around food entirely.

I went from skinny and soft, to lean and cut. And I did it without paleo, without keto, without eliminating dairy, or bread, and I did it with more calories than you probably think I did.

Long story short, I don’t work in weight loss any more. But I am still passionate about nutrition and I love love food. I’m a mom, a wife, work full-time and through each of my life changes I have had to learn and relearn how to make my food fit into my life (note: not the other way around).

I named this blog “messy eating” because of all of the stigma around “clean eating”, and my general opposition for cutting entire food groups out for the simple purpose of “being clean”.

Here you will find a lot of “nearly paleo”, “almost keto”, “could have been whole 30” recipes, all of which might not fit into the latest on-trend diet, but can definitely fit into a healthy and lean one.

You will also find single-serving decadent desserts, lightened family classics, and “revamped” take-out copy cats, because even fun food and the childhood comforts can have a small place on your plate.

I call that “messy eating”.
